Swedish Tea Ring

Well, thanks to Mom's recipes and my hungry family, my cooking skills are improving...ever so slightly. I've always enjoyed baking, and lately the kitchen has been my therapeutic, safe place. I baked my first successful tea ring tonight. I haven't tasted it yet, but it looks wonderful. This is probably the fourth time I've attempted it, and it's the first time I haven't burned it!! By the way, Mom, I changed the time on my recipe paper to 15.5 minutes, since it was perfectly golden brown then. Well, I hope my family likes it anyway! Thanks MOM!

What a beautiful tea ring! And right from your prided Swedish ancestry to boot. I'll bet your mama is so proud! My grandmother was known for her famous tea rings, but I didn't realize people made them anymore. Unfortunately, she passed away before we could get the recipe. (She couldn't remember it anyway, since it had been so long since she had made one, and she never wrote down the recipe.) Cooking is a real chore for me, but I love to watch the cooking shows on TV, and I think it would be fun to go to culinary school. I hope that one of these days I'll break down that barrier and find it's a hidden talent. (I think I'll enjoy cooking more than baking, though, because I don't have much of a sweet tooth.) By the way, what do you think of Hell's Kitchen?
